Normal Saving Account

A deposit account held at a bank that provides principal security, a modest interest rate and high degree of liquidity, is termed as a normal savings account.

Normal Savings account funds are considered one of the most liquid investments apart from cash. Savings accounts are thus ideal for keeping emergency money or money for daily expenses that you might need at a later date.

To choose the best savings account, compare interest rates, minimum balance, service charges, and banking features. Also check benefits like mobile banking, ATM access, and branch network. A good account should match your financial needs and offer easy access to your money anytime.

If your account becomes dormant due to inactivity, you can reactivate it by visiting the bank branch. You should:

  1. Contact your branch in person
  2. Fill and submit KYC form for activation of your dormant account
  3. Also, submit copies of current proof of identity and address for verification with KYC form

The bank will then restore your account to active status.

Withdrawal limits depend on the bank and the type of account. ATM withdrawals usually have daily limits, while branch withdrawals may have fewer restrictions. It is best to check your bank’s policy for exact limits.

To close your account, you have to visit the nearest branch with citizenship to close your savings account if needed.  Clear any remaining balance or dues, return your debit card and cheque book, and complete verification. The bank will process your request and close the account.
