Normal Saving Account

A deposit account held at a bank that provides principal security, a modest interest rate and high degree of liquidity, is termed as a normal savings account. 

Normal Savings account funds are considered one of the most liquid investments apart from cash. Savings accounts are thus ideal for keeping emergency money or money for daily expenses that you might need at a later date.

Various factors that need to be considered while choosing the right bank to open a savings account includes 

  • Interest rate offered
  • Minimum balance required
  • Customer service and
  • Other related benefits.

Apply online from bank's website. Also, you can visit the selected bank branch nearest to your locality to open the account. 

  • Online application may take some days. 
  • Offline account can be opened in 15-20 minutes depending upon the type of the account after submitting the completely filled Account Opening Form.  

To open an account, one has to maintain the minimum balance required as per the Account Type. No additional charges besides this will be levied.

Opening a joint account is the same as having a savings account except that two people will operate the account instead of one. Anyone above the age of 18 can open a joint account. Minors can also open joint accounts with one of their parents as the other signor of the account.

In order to activate a dormant account, you will have to:

  1. Contact your branch in person
  2. Fill and submit KYC form for activation of your dormant account
  3. Also, submit copies of current proof of identity and address for verification with KYC form.

There are no certain withdrawal limits. 

You have to visit the nearest branch with citizenship to close your savings account if needed. 

No you cannot open multiple savings accounts with the same bank. However, you can open a remittance savings account along with a normal savings account in same bank.
